The Becoming
Trent: TY! TYVM. I know it's a fucking weird set tonight. It just felt like the right thing to do. TY for coming out. TYVM, we love New York and we very fucking glad to be here, TY. A little while back I said we'd never play this song again, and at the time I meant it. But we're in New York... and goddamnit, we miss him. And this is a song by our dear friend David Bowie off his last record.

Happiness In Slavery
Trent: TYVM. This has been really great, being here with you, TY. I appreciate it. You know, we're playing Brooklyn the day after tomorrow. Come out. Real quick, I wanna introduce my friends, my band: RF! AC! IR! AR! Thanks again. Today... Just a small, small rant. Not Kanye-level, but small rant. Two different people today came up and just happened to mention that music had saved them in some fashion. I don't mean MY music, but music, you know. But I think a lot of that music, you know, music's kinda taking a backseat to whatever, you know... social media, and distractions that everybody has these days. But music... Music saved ME, and music kept me from losing my mind as a kid... And the privilege of being able to make music and play it for you guys has kept me going and I TYVM for the opportunity. And this is uh... The next song we gonna play is another one from The Fragile. And this one in particular was kind of a... This one saved me when I was in a pretty bad place. And this song, being able to write it, got me out of a hole I couldn't get out of.

Notes
JS had a bit of problems with the recording from the night previous when the mic disconnected from the recorder and the internals were totally blown out. But man, this tape smokes and I am glad he could redeem from the previous night! I know how frustrating that can be! It's an amazing tape. The performance is great! In London, TR said that it would be the last time they played "I Can't Give Everything Away" but TR goes on to say that We're in New York and goddammit we miss him. During the Encore TR was going to talk about Kanye but said it wouldn't be right. He went on to say this (kind of summed up) "Two different people came up to me and that music had saved them in some fashion.. I was thinking about music and it's taken a back seat to.. whatever ... social media and whatever distractions. Music saved me and the privilege of making music for you has saved me" and he goes on to say that "Even Deeper" saved him making it." It was really the most TR has spoken at a show in a while. Damn... This isn't even my tape and I wish it was!!! What a show to be at. I can't thank JS enough for taking the recorder for these NY shows and getting such a great capture. Enjoy the tape. I'm stoked how well the project is going.

Notes
JB sent me over the raw 4K video a few weeks after the show ended after I was blown away from seeing it on his YouTube account. He has filmed a lot of bands over the years and you can tell by watching this video there is a lot of experience behind the lens. The recording starts a little bit after Somewhat Damaged started. Sadly, his Schoeps source came out with errors and so Frank synced up the NIN Live Archive Touring Rig audio to this recording and it sounds great! I believe this was recorded from the balcony and an unobstructed view of the stage with a very steady shot. One of the best single cams of the 2018 tour. I truly appreciate JB sharing his footage to the archive to preserve!
