Recordings
Notes
Great recording, this is an upgrade from the tape we have on the archive for this date now. This is from the master tape and sounds wonderful. Huge upgrade. Would like to know more about who taped this and with what mic. It is almost complete, Terrible Lie has only the last minute recorded and Ringfinger has a slight dropout in the right channel, but I assume that is on the master tape.
Notes
Drop outs during "Terrible Lie" and "Down In It" is cut at about 30 seconds, missing "Head Like a Hole."
Notes
Great recording. Thanks to Aaron for sending a 2nd generation tape for the archive. This is a huge upgrade from the other versions of this same tape circulating and is superior to any other version floating around. If you have any more information on this one please contact us.

Notes
Initially, the NIN archive had this in mp3 format. This is an upgrade. From the person who I got the cassettes from (thank you), Pud Records would transfer from the master tape and dub from there. Thus, this is a 1st gen recording! I have also enclosed the bootleg cassette cover art in here too. Very good recording, I have adjusted the azimuth on my Nakamichi deck in order to get the best highs. Bias did not work in fixing the channels? As the right channel was much more faint than the left. But I normalized both channels (no EQ). This is a raw transfer otherwise. Most copies of this recording start at "Sin." But this tape catches the last of "Terrible Lie." Taper must have arrived late, I would assume. This is the 16 bit version. This can be burned to CD. The 24 bit version is available on DIME and the NIN Drive.
Notes
This is the earliest known recording from the Peter Murphy support dates. It is missing the Intro and fades in during "Terrible Lie." Got this from an 2nd generation cassette tape, sounds really good.
Notes
This is from a copy of the master tape. As the two silver CD bootleg copies "By Bizzare Hands" and "Killer Instincts" miss some songs, this is the full set. Both silver CDs are sourced from this recording. Terrible Lie does fade in, but I would assume this being a copy from the master tape that this is where the recording starts. Taper possibly walked in at the beginning of the set because it seems like they were getting adjusted with their mics throughout the beginning of "Terrible Lie." Once situated, the recording is flawless. A very good recording. Sadly with tapes being traded so long ago, not many traders thought it was necessary to keep equipment and taper info. So we don't know what mic this was recorded with, or who did. If you know who taped this show. Please get in contact with me. UPDATE: This was tracked completely wrong. So I re-tracked the whole recording instead of having "That's What I Get" and "Ringfinger" in the same track and also "Head Like a Hole" split. When I was tracking each show for the NIN Drive, this didn't pop up because it had the same amount of tracks and didn't give me an error. I have updated the FFP and MD5 files inside this as well. Other than that, i's the same recording and source.

Incomplete. Missing intro/Terrible Lie. Good audience recording. This is a silver CD that is not widely spread "By Bizzare Hands." It was produced by Mushroom Records (catalog number 20-MSRM) in Australia and was "copyrighted" in 1992.

Notes
Incomplete. Missing intro/Terrible Lie. Good audience recording. From the same source as the silver CD above. Tracks 8-13 on "Killer Instinct" are from 09/10/1991 Birmingham.
Notes
Many thanks to JL for unearthing this one. Very exciting to have a complete recording of the Boston show. Only the intro is missing. This was the last support show for Jesus and Mary Chain. A different source than what was recorded for the bootleg, "Killer Instinct." Sound is also very very good. Great to see this be released!
Notes
This is cassette tape sourced. A bit muffled, but a lossless source. This date was questionable from the Mary Chain Tour. If anyone can give better confirmation, please contact me.
Notes
This is the same recording as the other two versions that are on the archive. The reason this version is up here as well, is because it's lossless and also a better sounding recording than the other lossless source. Sadly, this is an incomplete version from the cassette that I transferred myself. Also, I may have used a *little* too much low noise reduction after analyzing the hiss profile. There is a bit of a metallic sound in the left channel if you are using headphones. I won't be retransferring this. I am really hoping to find a definitive version of this recording as there is a complete lossless one (that is from a higher gen cassette tape) and an mp3 version (that sounds the best, and probably taken from a low gen cassette tape, but lossy). If anyone has a definitive copy, please contact me.
Notes
This is an Mp3 source (lossy) of this show. Which is in better quality than above. If you have any information on this recording, or have lossless source. Please contact. This date was questionable from the Mary Chain Tour. If anyone can give better confirmation, please contact me.
Notes
The tape in circulation is a lower gen, but still we have not been able to find a master clone of this. This might have been recorded on a hand held cassette recorder with internal mics. Its a better recording from the 1990 tour.
Notes
Upgraded April 2014, thanks to Smores. Still an unknown gen, but the cassette rip we had before this was awful. Very hissy, and muffled. This transfer is FAR superior. Still misses the Intro/Terrible Lie which would make me deduce that this tape was incomplete to begin with. This is one of the rarer NIN shows to find. There are a few audio recordings that are fakes. One person decided to make one that included a few songs from the Melbourne show a few weeks later to this date, and a few songs from the night prior to this one in LA. Check your show to see if its mislabeled.
Notes
The version I have is a very very high gen. A lot of hiss, but probably due to the high gen, and the way it was transferred. For 1990 its a decent recording. If you know the taper, or know what was used to tape this show please get in contact with us. This was recorded in mono, from what I can tell. I also have an mp3 version of this same tape and it is also in mono. Would like to make a fresh transfer of this recording if anyone has a tape laying around.
Notes
This recording is the same recording as above. Sadly, this was transferred poorly and their methods of transferring the tape were probably not as sound as they could have been. This was encoded into MP3 format as well. The waveform in which it was transferred at was recorded too low. Which makes the hiss way more apparent. I did amplify the waveform by 10.3db to have it just under -2db. Whomever's tape this was had a decent low gen. The reason this is on the archive is because it does have better sound than above, because of the low gen tape source. Why I am keeping them both available is that source a is a lossless source and source b, because it sounds better. Would like to make a fresh transfer of this recording if anyone has a tape laying around.
Notes
The sound is pretty good and one of the better ones from this year. This was Highlighted on RITC's NIN Recording of the Week.
Notes
This is a DAT tape of a 2nd gen cassette source. This show was put onto a DAT at 16/32, which is LP mode. It looks lossy. But the trader that put this on the DAT was able to get 3-4 shows onto one DAT doing this. This is the same source as the bottom, but a known gen. Only reason that I am giving you the ability to download two different versions is that this one is lossy, where the other source is not and in 16/44.
Notes
This is an unknown generation of the same recording above. The only reason I am keeping this up on the archive is that this is a lossless version of the same recording. The one above (even though it's a 2nd gen) is lossy. I want to give you the option of the two because of that reason. In my opinion, this one has some hiss reduction that misses the highs in the recording. Something that the LP mode tape has.
Notes
A fantastic new upgrade to this source that we have had since the beginning of the archive. Thanks to Matt at DMLiveWiki, we were able to add this 2nd gen audio rip from the video recording. This upgrade blows the previous version of this source out of the water! The sound is 100 times better and although audio from a camcorder, the best audio from the very early NIN shows. Matt transferred the VHS tape and hopefully soon we will be able to bring you the video. You can listen to the previous mp3 version of this same source to see how much the quality has been upgraded!
