Recordings
Notes
This was taken from the silver pressed CD, "Show Up or Throw Up." This is the same source as the 1st gen audience tape that is available on the archive. This transfer suffers from a bit of brick wall during "Terrible Lie." So, in my opinion, the 1st gen tape is the superior source. But I keep this on the archive because it's a pressed bootleg.

This is a different source than the other two sources from this date. Sadly, it is incomplete and cuts during "Ringfinger." Not sure if this is a complete source, but I would have to assume this is the whole recording. Decent tape. This is as good (or better) than the other two sources from this show. Some tape warbling during "Sin" and a few other parts. Could be because this tape is over 20 years old.
Notes
This was taken from the Silver CD "A Demon Possessed." I assume this was used as filler for the bootleg CD. Only two tracks were used and "Now I'm Nothing" is not on here. Decent recording, but only two songs because of it being added as a filler.
Notes
A very incomplete recording of their set. Only 18 minutes was recorded and then this recording cuts out. Decent recording. Unknown gen and no recording info.

Last show on the Sin Tour. This DVD is a very high gen of a VHS tape. It is filmed from the left rear of the venue. It seems to be on a tripod or fixed shot. I bet a low gen would look pretty good. This recording is not that great, but it documents the night. The recording is incomplete and is cut right after the beginning of 'Down In It.' I assume it was filmed fully. But I may suspect that this master tape was recorded over at the end. I believe this happened because this DVD cuts to another performance shortly after 'Down In It' is cut.

I am not sure if this is a complete recording or not. Since they opened for Jane's Addiction, I am not sure if they would play their full hour set, or a condensed "warm up" set. To me it sounds complete. But I can't be for certain. The show runs a bit slow, I believe. You can hear it for yourself listening to the "Sin" sample. This is directly from the Silver CD. Sound is pretty good, at times there is a guy asking a bunch of questions that the taper pics up in the left channel of his mics.

I don't think I ever got the video from Matt listed below. But here is the DVD version that I have of the show. This is the complete show, but a higher gen from a VHS tape. There is another version circulating that is 35 minutes of the performance and misses the last 4 songs. I will talk with Matt about getting the other transfer of this. The video itself is really good.

Initially, we had this recording from a random transfer and it was put under a lot of hiss reduction post-recording. I had a VHS tape of this recording and sent it off to my buddy Matt from the DMLiveWiki to transfer the video properly. In the process, he ripped the audio from the show and without any post work, it sounds amazing. Way better than the first transfer with I would assume was obsolete equipment. Big thanks to Matt for working on this for the archive! You can compare the new/old transfers with the sample above. If you really wanted to get into the minute details of the recording, there is 11 seconds missing from the new transfer at the beginning of 'Terrible Lie,' and even then, that was ripped from a lossy source and added into the previous version.

Notes
This recording was added as a "filler" onto the Silver CD "Industrial Iguanas." That is why it is incomplete and only has a select of the tracks. It fades in with "Sin." The first half of this Silver CD can be found on the 02/25/1990 Charlotte source page.
Notes
This is the lossless source of the source that is more complete. It still misses a few tracks at the end, Ringfinger, Down In It, Head Like a Hole. This is cassette tape sourced.
Notes
UPDATE: Source 2 used to be in mp3 format. But I have gotten a lossless upgrade thanks to another trader who sent me this. It was all out of wack with the speed being too fast, so I slowed it down by -5.2 and also retracked the show because it was not tracked properly. This is the full show and a different source than what is one the Silver CD releases just judging by the crowd this was a totally different spot than the other tape.

This entire show was shot from onstage by a roaming camera man. You really feel like you're part of the band, even with severe generation loss! There is severe generation loss on this video recording. I would love to get a proper gen of this.

Thanks to happinessinheresy and TheBang, they did some extensive research in order to figure out what show this footage was from. It was not added to the archive because of the unknown date. This was taken from ninoffical's Vimeo page. It was uploaded for the 20th anniversary of Pretty Hate Machine. I believe it was also featured on that mini site. After dissecting the video and the stage design (with the star above) it was narrowed down to be from Metropol. There are many concert recordings from this venue that would confirm the venue. Setlist wise, it had to have been from this 1990 date in Pittsburgh. I assume that nin filmed this and it was in their possession, only to be unearthed for the PHM re-master/re-release. As on the page the description read, "Raw footage of a full Nine Inch Nails concert from 1990. Poor audio/video quality. Unknown date/venue." Cool thing about Vimeo is you can download the original format. I'd love to see the raw VHS tape transfer. For nin they call this poor quality, but I like to think its average for 1990. Great to add this and have a definitive date on this. Well done everyone.
Notes
This is a tape from smores of an unknown gen. I have compared this to the source one done by JB and it is a different recording. Down In It was not provided on this tape and goes straight to HLAH. Also, the tape marker (which comes right after Ringfinger) was a answering machine message that said the following, "Eric this is Glen, gimme a call when you come around." Certainly some trader's way of tagging their tapes. So interesting to look back on.

One of the really good video recordings from the early days of NIN. This was a surprise show. It seems from the PA announcer that some other band was supposed to play there that night but cancelled. NIN filled in to play. The band was not in the greatest mood as equipment was breaking on stage and also their bus driver got mugged outside the venue right before the show. The video is really good, a bit higher gen. but the quality is outstanding for a 1990 show! Good closeups of the band and the audio is good too!
Notes
Great recording, this is an upgrade from the tape we have on the archive for this date now. This is from a copy from the master tape and sounds wonderful. Huge upgrade. Would like to know more about who taped this and with what mic.
Notes
This was a batch of tapes that I received from another trader. It has been sitting in a folder just waiting to be edited. There are two other sources of this same recording on the archive previous to this. There was one that was cassette sourced that used a lot of hiss reduction filters and it had a lot of metallic sound to it. It was missing the last half of HLAH. The other was a 128 mp3 version that was complete. But also suffered compression. This is a proper transfer of an unknown cassette version of it, but it sounds pretty good! I have now deleted the older versions and this is the definitive version on the archive until there is an upgrade to this source.
Notes
It was thought this recording was from July 4th because of the time stamp that is on the video recording. This was confirmed with a newspaper source that confirms only the July 3rd date. The camcorder's clock was either set wrong, or the show started after midnight. Thanks to TheBang and Arnaud (happinessinheresy.com) This audio is ripped from the video that was recorded that night. Ripped from an unknown generation, but the audio is pretty decent but it is rather hissy and crowd is loud. Trent shouts to "turn up the fucking monitor" during "Head Like A Hole." The video itself is ok. As Gladcarrot points out, "Shot from an elevated position at stage right, this footage is often out of focus or focused on the ceiling stage lights. The are moments of clarity with some nice shots of the band." Big thanks to Matt from DMLiveWiki to transfer the audio. Video will be coming soon.
Notes
This is a copy from the master tape. It is the same recording as below but not from Silver CDs. The tape is *slightly* longer.
