A few recordings that are on the NIN Drive that I have not shared on the site. This was one of them. It was tagged as "nin drive only" due to it being very incomplete. Fang had recorder problems during the show and only the encore was salvagable.

Big thanks to SH for sending me his master tapes to be transferred. This is my first time seeing this recording in circulation. The recording misses "Terrible Lie" but starts right as "March of the Pigs" begins. A few dropouts at the beginning, but that's it. Very good tape! Recorded all of Bowie's set as well, but that is not hosted on the archive. It will only be available on DIME. Tape flip comes right after "Down In It" and misses the beginning of "Eraser." This is the 16 bit version. This can be burned directly to CD. Again, only the NIN portions of these sets will be available on the archive. If you would like the 24 bit version, it is available on DIME and the NIN Drive. For the Bowie portion, it will only be available on the DIME release.

A good recording. This is a first generation cassette copy from the DAT master. Big thanks to Alex K for sending me the recording that he transferred for me. Very grateful! There is a guy next to the taper that will scream a few times during the show. I think this is a better tape than the 2nd source.

Big thanks to JL for sending me over his master cassette tapes to transfer along with a few other NIN shows that will be getting uploaded in the next few weeks. This is a fantastic recording from the early years of NIN at Lollapalooza. What a gem to get transferred. You don't find many master tapes from 88-95. A very enjoyable tape to listen to. This is the 16/44 version. This can be burned to a CD. The 24-bit transfer is available on the NIN Drive and DIME.

I came across the Sacramento Music Archive and I am always blown away at people's commitment to preserving music. Awesome stuff there and just sent some pleasantries to Shayne. I got a message back saying that he recorded the show! It sounded like it hadn't been transferred so I was excited to hear it. I did think it was uncirculated but this is actually SOURCE 2 on the archive with some misinformation. Probably lost in the pipeline along the way. Originally we had this from a cassette dub to DAT and a few generations from the master tape. This is an exceptional upgrade for this tape and sounds a lot better! Great to have the right source information as well for this one. Big thanks to Shayne transferring and sending over their tape!!! Notes from Shayne: Ryan Jonik (Nine Inch Nails Archive website curator) messaged me and let me know that my NIN DAT recording from Lollapalooza was uncirculated. This was the first big show I taped with the DAT- I got it less than 4 weeks before the show. I was all stressed out with trying to sneak the gear in, but it was easy. I snuck in the TCD-D3, 2 battery packs, Sony ECM-909 mic, Marantz PMD-430, 2 nakamichi CM-300 mics, and a hundred feet of mic cable. We put the battery packs in the bottom of snack cracker boxes, and the PMD430(which is HUGE) rolled in a blanket. So funny. I did not remix this- it has a surprising amount of low end, considering the mic. I was super sick at the show, so you can hear me coughing at times.

This is the silver CD of the Tipitina's recording. The same as the few tracks that come from "A Demon Possessed" and the 2nd gen source of JL's recording we got on DAT. I would prefer this version over both of the other ones because the silver pressed CDs were taken directly from the master tapes. To my ears, they sound better than the DAT sourced version dubbed from the cassette master tapes.

Big thanks to Tapeworm for sending me over a bunch of DATs to be transferred. This show was on a 32 kHZ DAT tape that had 4 other recordings on it. This is an upgrade from the other recording of this recording that we have on the archive. The other version of this recording was from an unknown gen cassette, and it showed. This version comes directly from the master tape onto the DAT. The only drawback is the 32 kHZ. Also the master tape was stolen, but the taper had it backed up on a DAT copy. This is also the same recording as the silver CD releases "Solid Gold Hell" and "A Demon Possessed." Both of those silver pressed CDs were from the master tape.

This is the silver CD of the Tipitina's recording. The same as the few tracks that come from "Solid Gold Hell" and the 2nd gen source of JL's recording we got on DAT. These two tracks were added as filler onto this silver CD release (Physical and Wish), The Only Time has a few seconds at the beginning of "Wish" and then drops out. But all of the Tipitina's 91 releases are sourced from the same recording.

JB's first NIN recording. Amazing recording and the best one from 1990. The intro and the first 15 seconds of Terrible Lie are distorted but the rest is fantastic! Check the sample you will not be dissapointed!

Notes

This silver CD is the same source as JB's recording. It misses the intro and you can tell it is by the fluctuation in levels during the beginning of "Terrible Lie." This bootleg CD definitely pressed this recording from a higher gen tape. The quality in sound is not as good as the master transfer that JB provided a few years ago.
