Thanks to TheBang for the silver CD rip of this recording. He wrote a few comments about the Silver CD, "This bootleg was chopped up and the track order randomized with fades for no discernible reason. I reordered the tracks, removed the fades where there was enough overlap, and minimized the remaining fades. The encore was not included on the bootleg. This bootleg is mono."

Thanks to JW for unearthing this cassette for me to transfer. I've had a backlog of stuff and my cassette deck died halfway through transferring a handful of tapes and had to wait to get it back. At first, I thought this quite possibly could be the Bradley Kaplan DAT recording that never really circulated. There was one copy of it that was around, but binned. BK was on DATHEADs if anyone knows any more information. After analyzing this more, this seems to be the same source 2 recording that is up on the archive now. But in way better quality. That copy was from a high gen (DAT4) cassette of acc123456. I firmly believe that this cassette copy here is a low gen dub to cassette from a DAT recording. The hiss noise floor is really low and sounds way clear. Although there are tape flips, I can't distinguish any gap in the recording besides the encore where the recorder definitely paused the recording. Although I cannot confirm 100% that this is a DAT recording, the 24/48 fileset has been archived here. Can confirm that this source is NOT the same that is on Manson's Revenge, which is a different recording and mono. Either way, this is a great upgrade for the archive.

This is from the silver CD. The silver CD is sourced from the video that is from the back of the venue. The sound is ok, but it is from a video microphone which are not as good as external microphones.

There are a few recordings from this date floating around. One video recording that was filmed in the back and its audio was released on a silver bootleg CD. Also one more audience recording that was released on the archive. This one is from neither of the sources above. This recording misses 'Pinion.' Thanks to Smores for sending over the tape, I am going through my backlog of recordings. This is a good tape and the sound is good on this one. Still looking for AF's recording from this date.

The PC62 is the stock mic that comes with the WM-D3. Great rig and a great recording. I was able to transfer this from Mr. Fang's tape collection and this is a first gen. tape! One of the best performances of "Eraser" I can think of from this tour. The end of "The Downward Spiral" and the beginning of "Wish" is cut due to the tape flip.

This was a pretty bad cassette transfer. The levels were too low transferring the cassette to a computer. I increased the db level +15, no clipping, on each track. There is a lot of cassette deck hiss because this was transferred so low level of volume. I am looking for an upgrade to this recording, or another cassette to transfer myself with my Nak deck. Also removed some cassette deck dropout during "Wish" right in the middle. So this DEFINITELY needs an upgrade. Verified Lossless as well. UPDATE: This tape had a lot against it before I even transferred it. One it was dubbed onto some really shitty memorex cassette tape and the hiss is way louder than it should be, it's a higher unknown gen too. Since it was such a poor tape overall due to its media type, I only shared the 16/44 version. I hope that one day we can get a proper recording of this show that doesn't sound so poor. If this were a lower gen, I bet it would sound good!

Below average recording. Sounds like a high gen cassette tape, with lots of hiss. Some artifacts throughout the recording (i.e. pops/clicks). This is not the best transfer. Looking for an upgrade on this one. Verified lossless. "Eraser" has a tape flip in it (or just cut) and the guitar riff in the middle was recorded twice. So I cut the double start of the guitar riff out to create the seamless song.

Text file notes, "This has been filmed from balcony stage left (slightly off from the centre of the balcony), the quality's that nice I almost wonder if this is from the master itself - however, I've played safe & kept it as a 1st gen...The show itself is as entertaining as always, the framing is good as well with a very listenable audio. The dvd is chaptered/authored, although as per normal it came to me without any taper/author details so if anyone can supply them."

This is an unknown audience video recording that is an unknown generation and transfer. I would assume this is a lower gen of the recording. The picture is pretty good. Shot from the left side of the arena. Mostly stays with Trent the whole show with some good closeups. The audio is sub par, but could possibly be better if the master was found.

From the Silver CD, "Down In It." Incomplete recording. Only one CD, so the recording fades out during "Ruiner." The rest of the show is probably available elsewhere. There is a video recording from this show. I am not sure if this is the audio ripped from the video, as I do not have the video. To add to the woes, this rip is also lossy. We need a lossless rip of this recording if anyone has one out there! Please contact.

Misses "Head Like a Hole", "Help Me I'm In Hell" and "Happiness in Slavery" so that it would fit to an 80 minute Silver CD.

I have recently got a new transfer from a 1st gen tape that sat on my hard drive for most of the year, as I am still backlogged with some recordings. Initially this was uploaded as a "1st gen" VHS to DVD transfer, which I have kept available to download above. But, I believe the new transfer MPG video is way better! Very clear and quality is exceptional. For the recording, it was shot from the balcony, slightly off-centre. A nice energetic performance, as usual the stage equipment gets a beating... well shot with some good camerawork and camera audio! Screenshots below are from the new transfer.

Lots of hiss in the recording, maybe if we find a lower gen. cassette it would clear this up a bit.

After cross-referencing every single NIN recording from 1994, it has finally been established that this recording is NOT from 12/31/1994 Detroit and is the 09/05/1994 St. Paul date. You can listen to "March of the Pigs" and hear the same 8 screams from Trent, same pauses etc. Other songs line up from the recording as well with their small differences with guitar strums and keys. So at this point, there is no New Years Eve recording. Still need to find one. This is a different recording than source 1. Sounds better. I assume this was pressed to silver CD, much of the songs were removed on the CD to fit to 1 CD and the date faked to sell some copies. The source 2 recording circulated as the December 31, 1994 show at The Palace of Auburn Hills, MI. Unfortunately there is no proof. Supposedly at the show (Detroit 12/31), there was a countdown to the New Year followed by a NIN, Pop Will Eat Itself, and the Jime Rose Circus coming together on stage to sing Auld Lang Syne, Finck did a harmonica solo, then NIN began their encore set. Which obviously is not included in this recording.

This is an unknown audience video recording that is an unknown generation and transfer. Recorded from the right rear of the concert hall with some good stage views and decent close ups. Audio is average as well, but there are other audio sources from the night that are way better. A very good performance from the Downward Spiral Tour and probably my favorite version of "March of the Pigs" from 1994.

Not a very good audience video recording at all. Mostly better to get the audio from this. You get very scarce close ups of the band and mostly just lights and obstructed view.
