NIN returns to the stage for the first time in three and half years with an amazing show!
Notes
First show for NIN since 2018. It was absolutely incredible. They melted the place. Trent was very appreciative of every one coming out and the performance showed. The first time 'Everyday Is Exactly The Same' since 2006. I taped in front of the left stack. I was recording on level 2 on the A10 to start the show during Somewhat Damaged and my levels clipped and I immediately turned the volume down a few clicks. Only to realize I went to zero for about 3 seconds. I received the feed in my inbox over a month ago. I have been slowly working on matrixing the sources together. I did not know that they recorded. It was a treat to see from the first show of the tour when it came to my inbox! The audience tape is more apparent, as the feed is there to supplement. The feed ran a bit hot. But adding some reverb and compression helped to reduce the harshness. There are a few more to come.
Notes
There are longer notes in the txt file of the recording. Two sources mixed together from myself and an anonymous source. This has been an unbelievable tour and so many damn good tapes have come from it. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the archive and sharing tapes. Especially those who were involved in the ninlive archive taping rig project. It was such a wonderful treat to get recordings from everyone and read the journal entries. Those should be up on the site very soon once I get it back and scan it. I hope to be able to bring some more recordings from the tour onto the site, as well as unearth some older recordings. Until the next tour... See you then.
Notes
This was edited by BLG and here is his notes on the mix he did of 3 sources from the show, "I swore I was no longer going to do projects like this, but this show definitely deserved it. I can't tell you how tedious and annoying it was to remove the click track from the IEM source, but in the end it was worth it. Both AUDs complemented each other nicely and I was able to remove some crowd noise from both sources. The pre-amp battery in the AT933 source failed and it is missing the last 3 songs of the main set. Thanks to all the tapers. This was a great show to end what I consider to be an epic 6 night stand at the Palladium."

This is probably one of three blunders I have ever done taping. Didn't have my recording rig handy and DM was kind enough to send over his recorder. I didn't check all the settings and the recorder was set to mid instead of 'low' and I paid for it. Totally brickwalled recording and the mic jack came loose a bit during the encores and it's riddled with static. I am hoping that another recording pops up from this date. This was my favorite set out of the run in LA. This will not be released. But is on here for the sake of archival purposes. It's a terrible recording that is not salvagable (I don't think, someone can take a stab at this brickwalled tape who has more experience than I).

After meeting the band the first night, I didn't know how we could top it the next night. But NIN DECIDED TO PLAY "NOW I'M NOTHING!!!!" Which they haven't played since 2009 and only played a handful of times since 1991. There was no "Bad Witch" segment of the show like all the setlists before. They were not fooling around and played hits after hits!! It was epic! LOVED hearing them cover Joy Division's "Digital!!!" We had some great seats thanks to m0reta on ETS. I was living in San Diego at the time and she came to the physical world pre sales and picked us up tickets. This recording is for her and she was the reason the tape came out so well because the placement of the seats. Honestly, the best setlists that they have been playing and I think better than the first night. We met a lot of people over the weekend, and it was amazing to talk with other fans around the concourse and head out after the shows to talk about our favorite band. I will never forget this run of shows!
Notes
Kip matrixed my audience recording with their IEM source. It would be hard to say that this isn't the best sounding tape of the tour thus far.

Best two shows I have ever seen. My brother flew down to Atlanta for the shows and these are now the only ones I am making. I've been running the archive for almost 10 years now and I have never met the band. All I have wanted to do is meet them, shake their hands and tell them how much I appreciate their music. So I sent a message over twitter and the outpour of support was overwhelming. Their tour manager contacted me and we setup a meet prior to them going on stage this night! We went up to meet them and it was surreal!!! Just to meet the band that I admire so much and travel to go see with my brother, it was just an awesome experience. We chatted about the archive and taping and I understand where TR is coming from. He told me that he is flattered about the site and the band came to speak to me and said that they love my work and the site is incredible. It meant a lot. Alessandro said that, "if I need to know where I have been since 2005, I just go here". It made me laugh. At the end of the day, no open taping policy because they can't control the quality. But he respects it and said that I can keep doing the good work and he would never shut the site down. It was such a great thing to hear from him. He told my brother and I a few other things that will be coming up and we talked about the Banksy Hotel compositions that will be coming out on vinyl! There will be a bigger write up about this encounter on the site. In regards to the show, IT WAS AWESOME. This is the live debut of Dear, World and we had some great seats thanks to m0reta on ETS. I was living in San Diego at the time and she came to the physical world pre sales and picked us up tickets. This recording is for her and she was the reason the tape came out so well because the placement of the seats. Honestly, the best setlists that they have been playing. What can I say? My first NIN show since 2014 and it was NASTY!!!!! Drove from Detroit for the show and back the same night. Got there early to hopefully see DFA but we got stuck in some traffic. Made it in during Ministry and got a spot dead center of the stage. Taped New Order from where I stood, that tape is mediocre at best. Obviously more interested in catching NIN's set. They did not disappoint. The sound was absolutely fantastic at the stage and Branches/Bones is a HEAVY HITTING opener! This was the Panorama Fest set on steroids. The first few songs I was getting thrown around as it got pretty aggressive out there. But I got through it! During "March of the Pigs" some guy grabbed my shoulder (right on one of the mics) and I flipped on him. Turned around and gave him a swift heart punch and yelled, "Don't fucking touch me!" Honestly have no idea how that didn't show up on the tape. Probably due to these beast of Schoeps mics. Should point out, BIG THANKS TO JD for allowing me to borrow his rig for this run of shows (including my Depeche Mode trek). He allowed me to run the same rig for the NIN/Soundgarden 2014 shows I went to."I Can't Give Everything Away" was a real emotional song. Actually teared up during it. Just really powerful. This was also the debut live performance of "The Background World" and it was AMAZING! By the end of these two songs, there are a few spots of wind noise, as it started to pick up. I heard "The Hand That Feeds" and there was still 30 minutes left. I thought we were getting close to the end. HLAH played, then the encore.. It was like a minute long and Trent comes back on stage and says, "fuck it, we're playing some more! and goes into SOMEWHAT FUCKING DAMAGED!!!!!!!!!! My favorite song, I lost it, man. So damn good. That encore kicked so much ass. The show was so good. There are not many better feelings than a concert high. I get it every time I see NIN. I am hoping for a club show on Sunday or Monday! It was really nice to finally meet the other NIN fan site creators from ninhotline, nintourhistory, and ninwiki! It has been a long time coming and it was finally nice to meet them all in person and chat for a few seconds! Listening back to the tape now, I am really happy with the results and stoked to get this kind of quality for the archive. Thanks to all who have helped gather sources and sent them my way. Hope there is more to come from Cali next month and the tour in 2018!

This was my last show of the NIN tour. I have always wanted to visit this venue since my first recordings I ever owned were from this venue back when I was 12 years old (Depeche Mode 1990 silvers). I would definitely come back to this venue. It was wicked. Not to mention having the hotel right next to the venue so no stress with traffic after the show! We got some ridiculous seats, 3rd row, dead center in front of TR in the pit! It was incredible. A very nice way to end the tour because it will be awhile before NIN hits the road again. I wasn't too worried about getting a recording since I did not know what to expect with being so close to the stage with sound. Not to mention I really wanted to jam out to the show, as it being my last of the tour. This tape was mostly for myself as I can't help but tape any show I go to regardless of sound. So I brought the plug n' play taping rig with the 717. Still one of my favorite mics to use and recently had to repurchase one as my first one was broken when I gave it on loan for some NIN Euro gigs in May. Even though this recording is not on the same level as the Schoeps recordings from a few weeks back, I am still very proud of the tape. It's definitely an average recording as there were a few points in the show where I covered the mic up. This really only happens during "Closer" for a few seconds causing some phasing. Was really excited to get "Reptile" and "The Day The World Went Away." Reptile is always nasty live and TDTWWA using the album version of the song live with all 4 band members jamming out on guitars is fantastic. Of course "Eraser" was the highlight of the set for me!!! NIN also filmed the night as well. As most NIN fans know, sometimes nothing will come of the footage because Trent doesn't like it. So we will see if anything comes of it down the road. They have recorded LA last fall, Vienna during the recent Euro tour and Woodlands. I snapped off a few photos during the show and one was featured on NIN's Instagram! (shameless social media plug, ha!). To my knowledge, there was also another taper in attendance. I would assume that his tape will be superior to mine whenever he may release it.

This show was better than the previous show in Chicago! The sound was spectacular here and I definitely was lucky to get a seat that was directly in line with the stack. A few tapers in attendance tonight and it was great to bump into a few of them! Notable things that happened during the performance was during "Terrible Lie" when Trent's guitar was not tuned properly and he launched it into the air. So for most of the song, no power chords were played. Again, I need to thank JD for loaning me his Schoeps mics. They are absolutely fantastic mics and the pick up the sound so well. I am very happy how this tape turned out. Just need to make note that there is about .3 seconds of dropout during "Copy of A" probably due to the cable from the tiny box and also there is a guy that leans into the right mic during "Find My Way" and asks me to move. Other than that, I think this is a great tape.

Another taper was kind enough to loan me his Schoeps CCM4 mics for these shows (thank you JD!) and this was especially important for this amphitheater as it is notorious for having horrendous sound. Thankfully, the mics and where we had seats were in my advantage for a decent pull! I was ecstatic about the results! I am really happy with this tape and this just solidifies me wanting to take the plunge in purchasing some Schoeps microphones! I've never used a card pattern mic before and these really drown out the crowd around you. I will be moving to the dark side soon.

This one also took a long time to release. I was hoping to get a better copy than mine, so please, if you captured this performance please get in . Would love a better copy. There was a video broadcast for this (which I don't have) and this was ripped from the Coca-Cola radio app from the internet. I found that the first few songs were lacking in quality, but during "Terrible Lie" it gets better. I would have to say, we (as nin fans) have been spoiled with very good proshot broadcasts, this one is not on the same level as the previous ones throughout 2013. Not to say it isn't good, because it is. This also may have something to do with my connection to the stream. If I get a better copy, I will update this.
Notes
The first time they performed "Sanctified" on the Tension 2013 Tour with Pino Pallidino on bass. As they have played this version on the festival tour earlier this year. This is my best tape, out of all the recordings. Stack taped again and the crowd around me was very respectable, as was the crowd overall. No one spoke during "Hurt," I think that was the first time I've actually think this might have occurred. The arena was silent. You could look at it as being a very non-energetic crowd, or respectful. Either way, it was pretty cool. My last stop on the fall Tension tour.
Notes
Good recording, I was happy with the outcome of it. Taped from in front of the right stack. Numerous tapers were at this show and hope to have their tapes for the archive soon. It was recorded in 24/48 and that is available on the NIN Drive. This is the 16 bit version.
Notes
Average recording. Stood in about the same spot that I did for Toronto. A few talkers to my right, but they are not on the tape as much as I thought they would. It was recorded in 24/48 and that is available on the NIN Drive. This is the 16 bit version.
Notes
Felt my recording came out pretty well. Recorded from just in front of the soundboard. It was recorded in 24/48 and that is available on the NIN Drive. This is the 16 bit version.

Average recording. Taped off to the right side a bit as I did not get a great spot due to running from the opposite side of the festival grounds after taping New Order. Some clappers and screamers apparent on the tape, but I am happy with my tape.

Taped the show just to tape it. Me and a bunch of other tapers were at this show taping/filming the show for the band last night. We got a lot of impressive footage and it may form into some type of release. This is really not that great of a tape just because it was on the highest balcony in the Vic and the whole left stack was barely noticeable. Sometimes the vocals are faint.. But I just tape the shows to have them for myself. There will be soundboard audio if there is an edit of the footage we have. But we also had another taper with some great mics that will be sharing their recording some time down the road. Thanks to all the tapers who came out yesterday and filmed the show! It was great to meet all of you.
